Airtable vs Monday

I was excited about our coverage in Digital Music News…until the last paragraph:

According to Bernstein there’s simply no comparison to other popular project management tools.

That quote made me cringe. It brought me back to a recent sales meeting with the general manager of a major label. “Yeah, I know Airtable,” she said, dismissively, “it’s that project management thing.”

I hear this all the time. “We use Monday,” or, “the creative team is on Asana,” people say. But let me ask this: Is a bicycle shop in competition with a car dealership? Maybe, if you’re just going across town. But those days are over for you and me.

Airtable, on the other hand, has democratized access to the relational database, a superpower otherwise reserved for highly technical engineers. As Digital Music News went on to quote me: “Airtable is the most accessible software development platform in history. Your company can have a custom software system that otherwise would take years to develop, in a matter of hours.”

So, if you’re looking for a competitive advantage, stop pedaling. The engine is running.
