In the future, we're all going to laugh at the things we used to try to do with spreadsheets.'
Getting you out ahead of this shift has been our north star. In addition to the overwhelmingly positive feedback and validation from our bottom line, every so often we observe a cultural moment that further confirms we're on the right track.
This week it came in the form of a pre-roll ad on The Daily, one of the most popular podcasts in the world:
"...it's the unified suite that brings your financials, inventory, commerce, HR, and CRM into a single source of truth...." [Listen to the ad here]
My body rejected it too when I first heard the phrase "single source of truth" back in 2020. Nonsense corporate jargon, I thought. Then over time it clicked and my life changed forever.
Millions of non-technical people like you and me just began the same journey thanks to this horrible (and expensive) ad. And when their collective light bulb moment comes, be it in 6 months or 6 years, the window to extract value from this seismic cultural shift will be closed.
Speaking of extracting value from shifts in culture, this week’s podcast guest was there at the beginning of Musical.ly. Since then Charlie Buffin has earned Forbes 30 Under 30 by growing his business, Spark Media, into a creator management powerhouse. In fact, he's probably been on the other end of your influencer marketing outreach at one point or another.
In it you’ll learn:
- The Evolution from Musical.ly to TikTok: How Charlie spotted early signals and potential
- Why letting creators lead content strategy yields more authentic and effective campaigns
- How Charlie built OmoBerry, a faceless YouTube channel for kids with 1 million subs and a billion-plus views
- Lessons on risk, patience, and trusting your gut from someone who’s never had a boss
