Helping a leading music law firm generate highly customized agreements in seconds, manage hundreds of active clearances, and give attorneys firm-wide visibility into the process.

Music rights clearance is high-volume, detail-heavy work. Our client, a New York-based music law firm supporting more than 200 clients, manages the agreements required to clear tracks for release. A single artist might have a dozen active tracks at once, with each track requiring multiple agreements across producers, featured artists, mixers, and other contributors.
The firm was managing much of this work through email and spreadsheets. Attorneys tracked clearance status manually and drafted each agreement individually, despite much of the process following repeatable logic.
The challenge was that no two agreements were exactly alike. Drafts could change based on the type of agreement, business manager or loan-out company, band structure, publishing information, number of tracks, fees, royalties, publishing splits, and dozens of other variables.
The firm needed a way to automate that complexity without making the workflow more complicated for its attorneys.
Relationl designed and implemented a custom clearance management and agreement drafting platform built in Airtable.
The system brings client data, track information, counterparties, agreement terms, clearance status, and document generation into one connected workflow. Using 14 linked tables and 12 automations, it structures the data behind hundreds of active clearances and uses custom legal logic to generate agreements based on the specific details of each deal.
Relationl also integrated the system with the firm's existing SharePoint environment through Make.com, allowing documents to flow into the firm's established infrastructure while Airtable serves as the operational hub for managing the clearance process.
Relationl translated the firm's agreement logic into an automated drafting engine. Attorneys enter the relevant deal information and click Generate Draft, and the system evaluates the underlying variables, assembles the appropriate legal language, and generates a customized agreement in SharePoint within seconds.
What was once a repetitive manual drafting process became a simple, one-click workflow.
The new system transformed a process that previously depended on spreadsheets, email, manual drafting, and attorney memory into a structured workflow that can scale with the firm's client base.
After implementation:
Partners also gained real-time visibility into clearance progress and team workload, while attorneys spend less time on repetitive document creation and more time on substantive legal work.
Most importantly, the firm's operational capacity is no longer directly tied to the amount of manual administrative work its attorneys can perform. Relationl turned a highly complex legal workflow into infrastructure that can scale alongside the firm.
